The kitchen is the main part of a house where cooking takes place. It is necessary to design it the way we want it to look. We should also feel comfortable using it. It should be placed such that it has enough lighting and it should be well ventilated. The place to keep every thing in the kitchen has to be well planned.
Each aspect of the kitchen has to be thought of. There should be enough space to walk in the kitchen. The main thing in a kitchen is the working triangle – with the countertop, the sink and the fridge. This distance should be such that it gives easy access to all the three main areas and one can cook comfortably. This will involve less running about in the kitchen. It is convenient if the fridge is near the countertop. The vegetables can be taken out of the fridge and cut and used for cooking. The dishwasher could be near the sink. The counter should be at the right height for the person who is doing the cooking.
The cabinets are very important to store things in a kitchen. While designing wall cabinets in a kitchen build the corner cabinets and then the center ones. They can be made of wood and have either hinges or sliding doors. They should be moisture proof. The shelf space should be specifically designed to keep all your kitchen utensils and gadgets. The cabinets should be enough drawers for keeping the small things used in the kitchen. The larger pots and pans can be hung or kept in bigger cabinets. The cabinets should be arranged in such a manner that it takes all appliances of different sizes. The cabinet sizes can also be adjustable so that we can make changes later, if we want to. They should be placed such that it they are convenient to use without any strain to the back.
The kitchen should be well equipped with the necessary gadgets to get the cooking done quickly and efficiently. This means that the kitchen should have a good stove, a fridge, a dishwasher, a microwave oven, and a food processor. The taps should be able to provide both cold and hot water. The kitchen should have an exhaust fan and a chimney to make the kitchen smoke free.
There is need for the kitchen to be clean and tidy. The well ventilated kitchen should have window sills which can be decorated with small plants or herbs. The tiles in the kitchen should match the flooring. The curtains should be color coordinated. Bright and rich colors will make the kitchen look attractive.
In some homes, the kitchen is the place meant only for cooking. In other homes the kitchen is also used for dining. Such kitchens should be big. Children love to spend time with their mothers. So, the kitchen should be safe for children and pets. Any kitchen utensils and sharp objects should not be within reach of children. The cabinets can have magnetic locks to keep the children from opening them.
In some homes, people also entertain in the kitchen. For this an even larger kitchen is essential. The kitchen is also called the psychological “hearth” of a home. No wonder a lot of thought has to be gone into, before planning a kitchen that suits your needs. A lot of material is available on the web. Be sure to use those ideas and also consult interior decorators and others who have built homes, before designing your kitchen through.

    ‘Kitchen backsplash ideas’

Designing a kitchen is as much a science as it is an art. Knowing the recommended measurements to use when planning the project can make all the difference in the final outcome.
Here are important guidelines for your kitchen design project.

    1. For efficiency, the work triangle (the space between the sink, refrigerator, and stove) should measure 26′ or less with no single side longer than 9′, or less than 4′.

    2. In kitchens smaller than 150 sq. ft., opt for at least 13′ of base cabinets, 12′ of wall cabinets, and 11′ of countertop. In kitchens which are larger, go with at least 16′ of base cabinets, 15 1/2′ of wall cabinets, and 16 1/2′ of countertop.

For counter tops i suggest Granite or quartz counter tops, and for a back splash, why not a bold glass tile!

Good luck and i hope this helps you!
