Tell your finance that decorating is your thing, not his. The sooner he learns this simple lesson, the better your marriage will be. He can decorate the garage, attic, and shed!
References :
I would stick with your French Country decor. Chili peppers just does not mix. Almost always Chili peppers is associated with Mexican or southwestern type decor.
References :
paint consultant/decorator 15yrs experience

Maybe go a little French mediterranean to blend the two styles. That entire area along the mediterranean sea has a decor and ambiance that lends itself well to melding with the "chili" peper spanish design. For example, you can faux finish the walls to look like worn stucco which you see in both Mexico and along the mediterranean. You can use a blue red as an accent color along with the provencal yellow and azure blue. Add a sprig of lavender to the chili peper wreath with a satin ribbon to tone it down. Use French country furniture that is on the primitive side with ladder backed chairs in a darker oak (Mexican would use rustic pine, but is essentially the same style). Add chair cushions in a French country pattern over the reed seat to soften the look. Add a few wine inspired accessories, a little wrought iron and a rooster somewhere in the plan and you have created a meld of your two design styles.
References :
30 years experience in interior design

forget the chili pepper stuff. being a woman, the kitchen is YOURS and YOURS ALONE! Decorate it as you wish. Same goes for the bedroom, bathrooms, living area, etc. All the guy gets is the garage and yard, and he'd better be damn well happy to have that!
References :
Kitchen Decorating issue...?
My fiance wants chili peppers and I want country (french or english). Im finding it hard to mix the two. I have a few ideas like a chili wreath and such.

Does anyone know of any site that mix the two? I don't want the chili decor to look Mexican at all.
